11 shacks burned down
Two days ago a devastating fire occurred in Dunoon where eleven shacks burned down and 35 people were directly affected. The community leader Monde Maninjwa reported the happenings to our Advice Office and so we called the Disaster Management and the Property Control from the City of Cape Town for fast help on the site.
20 minutes later Gerrie from Disaster Management arrived at our office with eleven food parcels and 60 blankets. We escorted him to the affected people so we could distribute the parcels and the blankets and afterwards confirm with our signature that all people received their goods.
The Property Control came the next day to provide material to reconstruct the shacks. Each family received twelve poles, five roof sheets and one plastic tarp.

The Masincedisane Community Development Organisation in Dunoon has been launched in August 2006 by concerned citizens of the Dunoon area and Cape Town. They want to make a difference for the better in the Dunoon community.
The Director is Mr. Philemon Khoza and the Project Coordinator is Mr. Tex Mboniseni Dludla. The two community workers are Mrs. Nombuyiselo Ngali and Mrs. Zoliswa Gila.
Vision Statement
Convinced that the easy and free access to information to the community is necessary for their education, the Masincedisane Advice Office encourages the exchange of information and aims at sharing their knowledge with the community. Based on the principle of "Masincedisane" - helping each other - the Advice Office is determined to improve the lives of the residents within the community and to reduce poverty.
Mission Statement
The Du Noon Masincedisane Advice Office, deirected by Philemon Khoza is committed to the community of Du Noon in order to create an information centre for the community that gives the most valnurable the chance to improve their lives through education. The Advice Office, which is easily accessible and free of charge for all community members, acts as a link between the government and various organizations and the community in order to offer assistance with social problems.
